The Council offers Prevention Education, Information, Referrals, Speakers, Films, Lending Library, Families in Focus, Alcohol Information School (Court Mandated, Tuition Fee Charged). Speakers provided. They also offer Parent Education Presentations and Self-Help Discussion Meetings Lists, SYNAR Program, High Risk Youth Program and Project High Impact.HIGH RISK YOUTH PROGRAM: Provides self-esteem, communication, decision-making presentations to kindergarten, fourth grade, seventh grade and twelfth grade students in Lafourche Parish schools.FAMILIES IN FOCUS: A successful, well-planned, research-based family-structured prevention program. This non-therapeutic program consists of 12 forty-five minute sessions where the family learns to plan, care and communicate and to decide together what they want to become. Call to schedule appointment for interview.PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAM: A series of 5 two hour presentations. Topics include Behavior and Discipline, Communication and Conflict and Resolution., Parental Authority and Developing Responsibility, Emotions-Feelings. Anyone may attend - open to the public.SYNAR PROGRAM: Designed to reduce the sale of tobacco to minors through educational techniques. The Coordinator delivers educational materials to the vendors within Region 9 and also attends several Coalition meetings.ALCOHOL INFORMATION SCHOOL: An educational school for court-mandated DWI offenders. The classes are 3 nights in a row from 7:00-10:00 pm. $125.00 fee (must be paid in full). Client must bring docket number and proof that they have to complete the DWI school.ANGER MANAGEMENT classes are available for adults ages 18 and older and adolescents ages 12-15.
